Program Overview
The Doctor of Nursing Practice-Extreme Environment Nursing program prepares nurses to lead and deliver care where conventional health systems are limited or absent, delivered asynchronously online over seven part-time semesters.
- Prepares nurses to lead and deliver care in resource-limited environments — aerospace, alpine, arctic, desert, maritime, tropical and urban conflict zones
- A doctoral-level track of nursing study that is unique to Texas A&M
- Rooted in systems thinking, operational leadership, trauma-informed care and environmental adaptability
- Prepares graduates to practice at the highest level where conventional health systems may not exist or may have collapsed
- Aligns with emerging national and global needs — disaster preparedness, humanitarian relief, interagency collaboration, veteran and military healthcare, planetary health and telehealth
- Delivered asynchronously online over seven semesters, taken part time
- Requires a graduate degree in nursing to qualify for admission
- Most clinical hours may be completed in your own community
